In the beginning...

Now as I look at my watch it is 10:42. I apologize for this late post, but there will probably be more of them. I am currently taking an Earth Science class online, so when I got home from STC I took a nap and then had to "go" to school....(virtual public school humor)

ANYWAY, back to theatre! I am really happy to be returning to Burning Coal. It feels so different coming to the conservatory. When I first entered last year, I felt rather intimidated. There were lots of older kids and veterans, and it had taken me a while to really let loose. However, I feel a lot more liberated this time around. It is liberating knowing what to expect, yet at the same time terrifying. I look around and see all these new, young rising freshmen and sophomores and feel rather..well..OLD! And of course when you feel old, you feel like there is more responsibility. You grapple with the dangers of comparing your experiences to the past, "expectations" in need of fulfilling, and doubt in your ability to lead/act/grow. I hope I have grown as an actor since last year. I hope I and the rest of us can continue to grow as much as we have the potential to.

I titled this post "In the beginning" because that is really where we are. Life is cyclical. Last year (Conservatory of 2009) I witnessed the works of creation on stage. We made life in the form of character. Now it is beginning again. From dust to dust and from the old dust we can plant a garden. But first, there was darkness...
